It's been said before, but this is The Da Vinci Code for people who like to think. Basically. But not so much. Sure, it's about ancient conspiracies and the occult and etc etc etc, but you're not going to find out that Jesus had a wife. OMG I JUST SPOILED THE DA VINCI CODE FOR YOU MY BAD DUDE. The book follows Casaubon, your narrator, as he works for a publishing house with two eccentric editors and one super computer. Bored one day, the editors and Casaubon start feeding details of conspiracies and secret societies into the computer in an effort of divining the one true, overriding conspiracy. And it works... sort of. Like any self-fulfilling prophecy, there's an answer of sorts, but it's manufactured by people who are eager to live it. I'm not going to spoil anything for you, but please read the book. It's dense and not easily accessible, but like all Eco it rewards you for what you put into it.
