O'Neill at his best is like a spiritual enema. This is O'Neill at his best.
This book was a sweet little romance set in the late 1800s. It was a pleasant read. There were a couple of things that grated on my nerves. The heroine behaves a little over-the-top, yelling at her love interest, which would be appropriate in a modern setting, but since we are to believe that this is in the 19th century, I think a sweet Christian girl would behave a little more moderately, even one as independent as this young lady. Still, the novel had some strong points. The author handles the balance between a love of beauty and being too vain in a wonderful manner.
