This book did the impossible, which was to improve upon her first offering in this series, Interview With the Vampire. It never falters and fills in the gaps about Lestat's life, both human and as the preternatural creature he comes to be, and she gives us glimpses into other time periods, other countries, and other worlds. Reading this series was like an escape, and I devoured her books - making me glad she is such a prolific writer.
