True classic here. If you haven't read this, what is your problem. It doesn't matter if you don't like the French, or there Revolution, read this! Not only is it required reading for every high schooler, it is an instant favorite. I swear I cried all throughout the end of the book.

Was first introduced to this story when I watched the BBC version of it while visiting my Mom in the Netherlands in 2009. I loved the story right away, and added it to my to read shelf, and then promptly forgot about it. This past fall I read and watched [title: Cranford] another one of her books, and wanted to get back to this book. Enough time had passed since I had watched it that I felt like I was discovering it all over again. This story is even more delightful than Cranford. Gaskell is a great writer and I love the characters and village that she created in this novel. You reallly find yourself seeing the characters come to life. She is as good as Austen and Bronte. Wonderful story that you will get lost in. While the book does end abruptly (Gaskell died before she wrote the final installment), it gives the reader the opportunity to invision the ending that they want and feel would happen, and will leave you only slightly dissatisfied.
