My first impression of this novel was that it was nice, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to be any more than that. As I kept reading, however, I was confronted more and more with the immense journey that the character of Rebekah is taking. She thought she had her life all planned out. She thought she knew what she wanted. She thought she knew where the Lord was leading. Gnarly, man. Nifty mystery/thriller set among Southern California surfers. I could have used a glossary for all the surfer lingo since it's been awhile since saw all the surfer movies of the 60's.
As we speak, the House of Commons is deciding whether to strip more feudal power from the House of Lords. In case anyone is getting cold feet, maybe someone should make them all read Wodehouse before they vote. (Hmm...maybe I've been reading the "Britain" section of The Economist a tad much lately).
