This book is seriously amazing. Even though I have gone on to start another book (which is actually very good), I can't stop thinking about Gone Away World. It has everything. And I do mean everything: Ninjas, mimes, a post-apocalyptic wasteland, college sex, hand-to-hand combat, desert-like british humor, paramedics dodging shrapnel while carrying a stretcher, strange creatures, tanks, guns, and even accute observations about human nature and philosophical commentary. Did I mention acerbic wit or mind-bending prose? Read it.

Short and sweet. Read this book to explore the concept of a "personal legacy" and learn some of the fundamental principles of being part of the universe's story. I go back to it every few years for a reminder. Coelho is an amazing storyteller, the characters are rich and the tale is suffused with paradox that seems easy to understand at first read, but unravels to reveal deeper truths. It is also inspiring and motivating.
