This is a remarkable novel. Never mind that it is the author's first. The writing style is precise,somewhat spare but fluid and the tone is consistent, the narrative uncompromising, intelligent and compelling. It resonates throughout. I began reading it on a Saturday morning and couldn't put it down until I was finished. Then I re-read portions. The story is told from multiple perspectives very effectively and efficiently. It deals with fundamental, recognizable questions relating to how we live and the tension between what we might want or like to do and what we actually do and why and how we deal with those inconsistencies. A successful work, without a doubt.
