Wow did I ever just have a ridiculously hard time assigning the appropriate number of stars to this review. I'm not sure I can even write a review without giving away all the BIG spoilers, but I'll try. For the overall story, this was a 5 star read for me. It seems Grant really hit her stride with the zombie, government conspiracy, viral science combo after book one and gives us a complex and fast paced wild ride. Although this book is long at close to 600 pages, it reads much faster and shorter. I couldn't stop turning pages. However, at the moment I read the last page, I was very close to throwing the book across the room. That moment almost made me give this book 1 star. I should inform you here that I HATE cliffhangers in books. I'm ok with little breadcrumbs left unfound between books of a series. I even enjoyed the little unanswered questions left between books 1 and 2 of this series. But when I read almost 600 pages of non-stop zombie conspiracy action I want at least a little resolution. Did I get it here? NOT AT ALL! The book builds from the begining of another conspiracy to three HUGE things that happen within the last 100 pages - two of them within the last 25 pages. And then it ends. Huge cliffhangers work well in TV shows where the payoff is likely to happen in a week. When I'm left with no resolutions whatsoever and have to wait until July 2012 for the hope of a payoff, I'm not as accepting. In short, I loved this book. I liked the elements of the science and conspiracy even better than the first one. If I had to do it over again, however, I wouldn't have read it. I'd wait until the third book is released before reading book 2. Then, maybe, I could get a more complete story.

WOW!!! even better than the previous 2 in the series! amazing how a fiction book, tho, can still stomp on your toes and convict you about something, no?! this family is down to earth, and yet, w/ a faith SSOOO strong still. this book is another example, too, of how as different as we can be, we (different races, cultures, religions, nationalities, etc.) are still SO similar and alike. why can't we just get along then??? because we do NOT try hard enough at it, like we don't try hard enough at SO many other positive things. unfortunately, we sure do put a LOT of effort into negative things, tho, don't we?!?!?!
