Really good book. Read this book before you read any of the Brian Robesen books.

This is more like 2.5 stars, I think. I was alternately captivated by, frustrated with and angry at the characters in varying degrees. What I liked: It was so nice to read a book where there was true physical passion between characters, but the main character still kept her integrity. Also, the passages where the whole family were together were absolute magic and so enjoyable to read. The loving relationship of Faith's parents was fantastic. What I didn't like: There were quite a few sections that were fairly repetitive plot-wise, and I felt like the characters were being really "dumb" at times. If I had a nickel for every time a character "caught her breath" or "a small gasp escaped her lips", I'd retire right now. I also felt like the characters were put in a situation where no realistic happy resolution was possible, but resolved it was...glossing over quite a few MAJOR issues!

This was a little different from Erica Spindler's past books (in a good way - not quite so sorrid). I have to admit that I kept changing my mind about who I thought the killer was, so obviously she did a good job of keeping the suspense up. She refered a lot to the damage from Hurricane Katrina too. If we hadn't just been there this past summer, I might have gotten bored with it. Overall, it wasn't a great book, not a can't put down page turner, but it was an OK time passer.
