15-year-old Reason Cansino was named so for a reason- her mother, Sarafina, wished to use her name as a reminder for logic to make up for her illogical and unexplainable childhood from which she ran away from when she was twelve. Sarafina leads her with her in a runaway life in the Australian bush of changed names to escape from her mother, Esmeralda, a "wicked witch" to whom she has told Reason many terrifying stories about. Magic or madness is not a question so much as a choice that Reason and the friends she makes along the way, both in Sydney and NYC.
