Any work of fiction should allow you to suspend your own reality for one created by the author. Despite the seemingly ridiculous premise of a husband (a lawn maintenance guy) to ransom his wife for $2 million, Koontz pulls it off in an entertaining, unpredictable way. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this, even as the plot wound further away from the realm of possibility. Some plot devices were a bit too standard, but hey, this is pop fiction. There was a time when I wouldn't even consider a work by Koontz because his books were so repetitive, but he seems to have broken away from that rut.
This book is not for those who want to read about "light tunnels". Of course that its flavor is of eastern origin considering the author's cultural background. This makes it valuable and enriches our comprehension of this most interesting concept.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was fun and interesting, with some magic and traditions. I liked that the author used Yiddish words in the book (and provided translations) and explained Jewish customs and traditions. It was interesting to have that aspect and then to have the main character want to go off fighting monsters and dragons. It was a fun contrast. Warnings: Only if you have a terrible fear of knitting needles.
