I read the Anne of Green Gables series when I was a girl, and this is my first time to repeat it since. Of course, it was written a century ago, so many things are quaint, but I love the sweetness of that time, the expectation that children would learn to be good, that people should be kind to each other, that true love is possible if marriage is entered into in good faith and with faith. This has been my least favorite of the series so far -- it rambles, and although there are very funny moments and great characters, the lack of an actual plot line made it a bit tedious. At the end of the novel, the town lauds Anne (now an adult and with apparently no remaining character flaws) to the point of nausea. I know Lucy Montgomery loved her character, but enough is enough. However, I love Anne, too, and will read the rest of the series to find out what happens to her next.
Hot as hell and ready for more!
