There are some wonderful, hilarious scenes in this book and some satisfyingly alienated descriptions of the Californian landscape. Overall, though, I didn't get into it enough for the fourth star. (I can't just give everything 4 stars.)
Interesting imagery and themes, but very repetitive.
This is one of the iconic books of the 1970's that I never got around to reading until now it was "assigned" to me by my book club buddies. I didn't know what to expect and found that it was quite interesting. The evolution of Jonathan as he learns to fly and becomes free to be himself turned into a fascinating journey. He passes on his knowledge to others, showing that educators have a high and noble calling. And the photos were lovely.
