I don't like this play as much as the other great tragedies because I find the two leads to have a dubious notion of hospitality. However it is undeniably one of the greatest plays ever written.
At first I was worried there wouldn't be enough plot to hold my interest but it quickly became clear that the characters have a shared past that will gradually be divulged in the present day. Even the characters that were new were important connections at some point in the story, which takes place over one day. Woolfe's run-on-sentence style of writing is sometimes hard to read and others times beautiful. Overall I won't forget the quirky characters and visceral descriptions. Watching The Hours after I finished further enhanced the experience. :)
