I really tried to like this book but just couldn't. The characters were just not engaging and the basic plot seemed pretty simplistic - as I got it the servant's corruption followed that of the master until he overtook him. Who ever hands out the Man Booker prize and I have very different tastes. I rarely like books that have won it. I read this for book club so we'll see what others think.
