This was closer to 3.5 stars but I rounded up. Liked all the characters unlike the stupid Slap where all characters were repulsive and written for thrill. I can imagine this being made into a movie with a great ensemble cast. I would like to see Rob Lowe in it - maybe as Bennie or better yet as Lou.

My full review: http://ibeeeg.blogspot.com/2009/04/ra... The second book in the series - Ranger's Apprentice - did not disappoint. I will admit, at first it was a bit slow going but to be fair...I think it was slow because I just stopped reading a different type of book that had a huge effect on me. Once I got into the reading, which happened rather quickly, The Burning Bridge moved along quickly. First Sentence: It was close to midnight when the single rider reined in his horse outside the small cottage set in the trees below Castle Redmont. The Burning Bridge is full of action and adventure. However, the best thing about this book is the respect, obedience and discipline Will and Horace show towards their mentors. The mentors on their part show wisdom, courage, honor, strength and compassion. I really appreciate Halt and Gilan. They lead their lives in such a manner of respect that any boy who apprentice under them would be blessed. These two Rangers have a huge hand in Will's growth and maturing self. In this book, we meet another character-King Duncan. This character is in the story briefly but even in the brief time we read of him, we are shown he posses qualities of wisdom and compassion.
