I think this story was just not for me. If you like sweet English stories then this is the book for you. It just moved a little to slowly describing the relationship between The Major and Mrs. Ali. It was well written and would probably be most enjoyable to those who like books highlighted on masterpiece theater :)
Sigh. I'm such a sucker for victorian lit.
