Aptly named, full of delicious food; a must have. I was on to Rick years before he became famous, and this book was a secret weapon lol. . .one I was loathe to openly mention except to other serious cooks and close friends/family.
Beautiful, delightful, charming picture book about a mysterious Lost Thing which becomes a Found Thing, enjoyed very much (though perhaps on different levels) by both me and my kindergartner. Every time I read a Shaun Tan book I'm just blown away by his artistic skill and talent.
Is it ok that we allow young girls to read this? Really?
There were a few things that bothered me about this book, which might explain why it took me a while to read. I didn't necessarily like how Kathy would incorporate the reader into the story (i.e. "I don't know if you did this, but..."). There were a few things that were unclear, as well. There's one scene in which Kathy straight out says they're clones, and while there are obvious clues to this, it's never fully discussed until that moment. It made me wonder whether the students knew the entire time that they were, or if it was something they learned when they were younger; it's never really elaborated. That aside, it's a wonderful story, and even though I saw the movie first, the ending broke my heart.
