A very good start to a series with great potential. The story is about a dragon who is imprissoned in China. It has pirates, emperors, fisher-girls, and a whole slew of accompaning characters. The story is very simple, there are no real 'wow!' moments in it, but it has a lot of heart, which I think make up for it. It is the first in a series by Daniel Fox, and while it could go either way, either a wonderful tale or mindless, boring drivvle, I think if Fox continues to develop the characters and give them the realizm that they still need a bit of, then we have a great romp on our hands. I enjoyed reading it, but I find, like most first books, the author is nervous to jump into the fray. He spends a lot of time on the set-up. The characters come a close second. It is a book that you need to stick it out for. I expect great things from Fox in the years to come.
This is probably my favorite children's book! It's creative and cute!
I resisted reading this book for so long... probably about 10 years or so. I really thought I'd hate it. Well, I loved it so much that I wish I hadn't read it so that I could read it again for the first time. I've read no other books by Jane Austen, but I should probably remedy that.
