This book was a very interesting one-- that's for sure. It's about this 16 year old named Holden, but this isn't your normal coming-of-age novel, or what we call a Bildungsroman, as it shows some of the horrors of growing up and dropping out. This truly is a trilling book, as it takes you through serious matters such as drinking, prostitution and other rather illegal matters. This book truly breaks the boundaries of what we would call a normal and stable environment. What I really like about the book is that is so "true-to-life" or it doesn't glaze and decorates over the truth and serves it as we call 'reality'. It was very straight forward. It also uses vulgar language, something that isn't very appealing to youths such as I. But other than that, it had an interesting plot and the 1st person narration helped me really understand what was like to be Holden Caulfield.
