I found this book absolutely fascinating and well written. It has been a while since I read it, so I can't give it a detailed review, but I did think it was very enjoyable and found it amazing what some people are willing to endure to follow through with a dream.
Excellent translation. Makes it as easy to read as any modern book, yet keeps the rhythms of great writing. I was amazed at the variety of the stories--that the Miller's tale isn't the bawdiest, and that it ends with a ponderously lengthy sermon on sin, confession and penitence. To English professors everywhere, have your intro students read just a few passages in the original English, then switch to this translation so that students grasp fully how integral this work is to all the English literature that followed.
