Will, Horace, Evanlyn and Halt all maintained their character strengths as I described in Book 1, Book 2 and Book 3 reviews. The boys and Halt maintained and/or matured in chivalry. Evanlyn continued to show courage and initiative. First Sentence: It was a constant tapping sound that roused Will from his deep, untroubled sleep. This story - true to the Ranger's Apprentice nature - had plenty of action for the Araluens (Will and co.) teamed up with the Skandia to battle a highly skilled (Temujai) army. While leading up to the battle, Will,Horace and Evanlyn grew in their skills and belief in theirselves. Halt...Halt still is amazing. He amazes at how well he stays calm and in control while planning, making decisions and dealing with bad outcomes.
