Flavio Maidl Maidl থেকে Rakhat, Kazakhstan
One of my favorite books. Nabakov writes a hilarious account of an otherwise dirty subject. There were many moments when I laughed out loud at Humbert Humbert's private mumblings. It has a very controversial theme and the way it's presented brought many feelings out in me. Should I feel sickened at Humbert Humbert? Should I feel bad for him that he's clearly being used? What about Lolita?
In this book we get to see Emma Stokehurst, the 12 year old child from the first Stokehurst book, all grown up. It's her third season and she just hasn't found a husband yet. She's very unique, smart, funny, TALL and she has a menagerie of animals, including the tiger that Prince Nicholas gave her in the first book. He is a dark man, rich beyond belief. And he has wanted her since she smacked him over the head with an umbrella when he kidnapped her step-mother in book one. In that book Tasia has some precognition...in this one Nikki can see some things too...past? Present? Future? That really is the question. (view spoiler) I was about 57% through the book and they were married...THEN came the twist...it was interesting...
Hard to read, but definitely worth it.
