Dr. Temperance Brennen, Reichs' alter ego, is a bit rough in her social skills, which emphasizes her complete commitment to science, but does not make for a likable character. She is tenacious above all else. "Tempe" is a forensic anthropologist for the province of Quebec, who comes to this position from her home town of Chicago where she is educated, and from North Carolina, where she is a professor of anthropology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This is the second Kathy Reichs' book that I have read, and the focus of the stories are on the medical/anthropoligical evidence, and how the character interacts with the police investigating the crimes. Dr. Reichs character is also the headliner of a television program called Bones, and as in the novels, Tempe Brennan works hand in hand with law enforcement to identify clues and solve murders. Dr. Brennan is very "hands-on" in using the anthropological clues to solve murders, and she is often confrontation in her interactions with law enforcement of the province of Quebec and the city of Montreal.
