More my generation than you Gen Ys. I liked it.
One of my all-time favorite books. Don't judge a book by its category--this is not another historical romance. (Though it is replete with romance, and historical detail, and maddeningly handsome men with thick Scots accents). I love it because the main character is a sharp-tongued broad who doesn't give in. And she gets smarter and more interesting with each book--and the love affair deepens and grows as the characters mature, which we so rarely get to see.
Reads like a road map to the underground junk scene in NYC. Made me feel ill at times, needles, sticking. arms.
