Not really a novel as such, more a vehicle for Lewis to impart various theological and philosophical musings. Although it is a short book, it is dense with ideas, and I don't think it rewards the reader who just plows through from start to finish. I would recommend reading a bit at a time to digest the messages that Lewis is conveying. I find it very interesting that with the exception of the occasional references to 'the war' the book could have been written today; the messages contained are timeless. My rating is middling because, although I am glad I read it, I am not overly fond of these type of books in general.
