This book was jsut awful. Way to wordy and the poor character, "Swede"; he deserved better. It got really far fetched at the end. Too many characters that got trashed quickly. I do not recommend this book.

Josh Lanyon's writing is always very rich and colorful. I truly enjoyed his depiction of Swift's addiction. How Swift realized life was about choices and responsibility for those choices even the simple, small ones. He shows us how difficult a struggle with addition is even after years you are not "cure" of it. The mystery and romance in the story add to Swift's character and our understanding of him and those around him. I would have loved to know more about Max. He is Swift's lover but isn't a main focus of the story. This isn't really a "romance" story, though that subplot is there. It's all about Swift. It is a very interesting this the see how a poet and addict may describe his world. I am surprised that though I would love to see more of this character I'm not craving a sequel. I thought, though there could be more added to the story, the ending was well done. This was a delightful read and am sorry I didn't read the book sooner.

I love the House of Night series. This book just adds more of a good story line to the entire series.
