A diverse collection of tales. One is able to read 2 or 3 while smoking a cigarette. This book lived on the table in my smoking porch for the duration of my reading of it. I especially enjoyed how the editors placed the stories together in a semblance of order that is not easily noticed. For example, a story featuring a couple named Williams was followed by a story in which the hero is named Williams, then a story about the 'Perfect Woman' is followed by a story that includes another idea of a perfect woman. All the pieces pack a punch and are quick and entertaining. I also enjoyed the introductions as the Science Fiction Short-Short was a type of literature I was unfamiliar with prior to reading this book.
Rating: 3.5 stars I thought this book was just okay for me, but I wished there was more to the book, more exploration of the deeper undertones. I guess that's why there will be part 2, 3 etc. The best part was the ending - which, while I don't typically like open-endings, I thought this one was very interesting and could really lead to some great discussions.
I love all of Moore's work. His characters are zaney, the plots are well developed and the satirical humor kills me every page. The underlying themes are just as sharp as his humor. I mean really, a character called Minty Fresh? hilarious!!! I thoroughly recommend listening to the audio version...
