The best way to introduce this book is to address the underlying theme: incentives. The way in which Charles Wheelan approached his examination of incentive and utility are sometimes cynical, usually funny, and always fascinating. He takes the most outlandish examples and analogies, uses them to support his reasoning, and explains them in such a way that they fit perfectly and faultlessly. His ways of going about it engross the reader and make the complex science much more understandable and down-to-earth. He strips away the graphs, equations, and jargon and gets straight to the issues and spins them in such a way that they make sense. For anyone interested in economics but not in the terminology and graphs, this book is the cutaway version of the science. Be warned, however, that the book is somewhat idealistic at points, discussing how economies should function rather than the way in which they truly do function. As with most any other economic text, though, this is a common theme not isolated to this one particular author.

Cute read! An interesting look into the lives for 4 different women who share a love for shoes. I like how the chapters initially are devoted to each of the characters individually and then they slowly come together...kind of like the movie "Love Actually". This is also a very 'woman power' type of book, which is also nice. All in all, a nice rainy day book!
