The more I read, the more I want to read. This Batman comic deals with the death of the second Robin. Apart from the very first Batman comics (which I read), this was the only Batman comic featuring Robin. Well, that and "The Dark Knight Returns". Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what to think about Robin, except that whenever he was in the animated series or movies, I actually liked the jokes (because I'm a very silly person). I did like how affected Batman was by Jason's death and his behaviour throughout the story. There's a heartbreaking moment where Batman meets Robin in Israel or something, while Jason is hunting for his mother. For a while Jason thinks Bruce has come for him, but he has to tell him that he was following the Joker's tracks. Man, that hurt. I wasn't too affected by the death of Robin because of Robin, but it was hard to see Batman in pain. Sigh. Anyway, this was good. And understandable even for someone like me, unlike other comics I've read *coughs*crisis*coughs*.
I almost gave up on this 1/3 of the way through, but I am so pleased I stuck with it. A thoroughly entertaining read of a genre (chick-lit/adventure YA) that I wouldn't normally touch. I picked this up because it was BOM at RT book reviews. I do think, though, that the humour the author used didn't transition well for us who are not Americans! I often felt like that person at the party who was always clueless as to what everyone else was laughing about! However, this was a great read and I enjoyed getting to meet all these girls' and seeing them grow to believe in themselves.
