Have you ever read a book then saw the movie and said, " The movie was awesome!" Well first I read the book then I saw the movie. I loved the book it was way better. The book was way better due to the simple fact it was a book. Usually when you read a book and then finally watch the movie you expect it to be better but not this time!!! Since it was a book you didnt have a picture of exactly how everything was so you had to use your imagination which is ironic because that's what the book deals with mainly. With the vivid and borad usage of descriptions and the authors leisurely tone the reader doesnt have to feel rushed to get to the point. The author manages not to tell the reader everything which allows room for the reader to add their thoughts or imagination. Which to me is the best part of the book. Not only does the book have a great plot, setting, and conflict which draws the reader in to it, but it sends a message. THe message deals with social behavior and how tweens have to deal with bullies and overbearing parents. The characters Jesse and Leslie use their imagination to escape the havoc in their lives including these problems.By using their imagination and creativity they build a secretive world called Terabithia. Their imagination stregthen their relationship as companions. Teens could really relate to these situations and it would be easier for them to enjoy the book if they feel as though they have someone who deals with the same issues. I aslo love how this book shows the innocence of children and teens in general. The author illustrates our innocence as children in the book when he shows how the charcaters build an imaginery world to for get about their problems in life. Even with all the conflicts the two characters faced they still managed to smile. Therefore, I love this book because it has vivd descriptions to help explain to the reader a clear picture but still leaves room for the reader to use their creativity as well. It sends an important message to tweenss and children alike and also parents to aware them of the problems we face but manage to smile everyday. I strongly recommend this book for any age group it's wonderful just like the worl they built.
