Eh, this isn't bad. For a comic book, that is. *g* Right. This was the first comic book I ever read as an adult, right after Sandman. I can honestly say that I wasn't prejudiced when I read it - well, apart from the fact that I never thought about comics that much back then. But I didn't think they couldn't be good, or whatever. I still remember my utter confusion when I started reading it (that confusion was something to be tied to reading comics for years to come!) - back then I had no clue about anything whatsoever, and I didn't know whether I was supposed to know the characters or not; that is to say whether they'd appeared anywhere else before. But after the first two issues, I was sold. The chapter with Dr Manhattan took my breath away, as did the comic-inside-the-comic. Okay, actually, *everything* took my breath away. And when I reread it three and a half years later, it was the same. One of the best books I've ever read, hands down. The movie was terrible, though. Well, maybe not terrible terrible, but it had no soul whatsoever, and a horrible soundtrack.
Disappointing. I don't know what is going on with me and my choices and books lately, but this one was another disappointment. It held my interest just long enough to finish it.
