A smart and well-detailed history of the Chicago World Fair, contrasted with the work of a strangely skilled serial killer. Favorite fact: This world fair is where someone composed the Egyptian-style melody that signals a cobra rising out of a basket (a la that "Ladies Underpants" song). I loved the story, but somehow non-fiction still strikes me as a paler version of what really happened. Would love to read the novel version of this.
