This book was really fun to read, but also gave a fairly good account of Michelangelo's life and the amazing times in which he lived. I really enjoyed the descriptions of different Italian cities during the Renaissance, and all the references to other important people of that era. It is an especially engaging read if you have ever been to Florence or Rome, where most of the novel takes place. The writing is best when the author sticks to historical information and doesn't try to create too much of his own drama. The accounts of each sculpture's creation are particularly fun!

Un libro central: debido a las presiones de lo "políticamente correcto" de su época (Laclos supo que muchos se verían retratados en los alegres depravados que pueblan la novela, y reaccionarían en consecuencia) el final del entramado de intrigas que ocasiona la ruina de manipuladores y manipulados es plano, apropiadamente virtuoso y maniqueo en su asignación de culpas. Pero no importa: la caracterización de personajes como la marquesa de Merteuil o el vizconde de Valmont vale por su capacidad de penetrar en las certezas y las arrogancias del poder como ellos lo ejercen, meramente por tedio de existir en un mundo seguro y en apariencia perfecto.
