Mary Roach is an extremely clever writer. I enjoyed this book immensely.

Can I give this six stars instead of five? I love retellings of fairy tales, and this one was excellent. Told from the Beasts point of view, the tale is set in modern times. I decided to read it a) because the movie looked interesting and b) because I've read another Alex Flinn book and loved it. I can tell that the movie is drastically different from the book, but will still be good. However, the book... it was so romantic! Kyle was such a jerk in the beginning, it hard hard to sympathize with him, but as he started to learn more, he changed. And by the end, I was routing for him. Granted, I knew how it would end but that did not spoil the book for me. There were many similarities and differences from the Beauty and the Beast tale that I know and love, and that is part of what made it so interesting. I liked that the mirror and the roses were still large parts of the story. Also interesting was the chatroom with the other creatures/people transformed. Though, it is sad what happened to SilentMaid. I would love to see the author write more books about those characters, with the same chatroom style there, so readers can see what happens with them!
