A lyrical and sometimes even poetic book about a little girl's messed up life in the desert with her French gaurdian. I enjoyed the language of this book alot, and it tried to create a believable "child-like" space. However, I think it tried a little too hard and came off as overly intentional. It was also pretty slow-moving, which is part of the lyrical-ness of it, but was also a little boring. Also, the girls life was so odd-ball that it was a little hard to relate/believe. A nicely told story, but not as great as it was trying to be.
