I just think this book got confused with it's own story. Character story lines didn't quite play out or make sense and I just found some of it to be stupid and/or silly.

On the plus side, this collection of Miyazaki articles and interviews does give you a sense of how well-read the director is, and how serious about his craft. But unfortunately the high point of the book for me was the opening thirty-page series of essays on 'From Idea to Film.' There are some interesting things in the remaining 400 pages, but I found them a little too few and far between.
