This was the very first novel I ever read by Anne Rice, and I was hooked. She immediately makes you fall in love with the characters, and yet there is so much left unsaid, so much unknown, that only compulsive reading of her other novels explains what Lestat, Louie, and Armand all want to know - how they came to be, and what they are. If you have only seen the movie, please - ignore it. The book, as they always say, is so much better. I didn't even bother with watching Queen of the Damned after that. The book is so lush and simply takes you into another world, and there's just not a movie that could convey the world Anne Rice has created.
