I expected a lot out of this writer (and let me be honest the awards had to mean something!) and was amazed that this book was simply about a lot of confused characters, their drab lives and their insecurity. I am not impressed with the writing style either, it just felt bland. The sad part is the story is based in a beautiful part of India but the writing or the novel failed to inspire any imagination for any beauty or wonder, my mind just shut down when I was reading through the book. The one star is only for her research on lots of political unrest which forms the base of the story- atleast they conveyed rawness and reality.
