This book is absolutely massive, and despite being five chapters in, I'm still in the introductory phases. However, the family already seems quite convoluted, and while I suspect it will take me a little bit to get into this book, I'll forge ahead. It's almost 800 pages long and I've barely made a dent.

I made my book club read this book because I knew the movie starring Edward Norton was coming out soon. I actually thought the movie was better, because this slim novel left something to be desired in the way of plot. It was too short to flesh anything out, and I kept waiting for the big "AH!" moment--which never came. The movie was beautiful and actually changed a bit of the story to help the narrative. And, it had Edward Norton.
