The story of the Dutch founding and establishing the colony that became New York City and state. nicely written and easy to read. Unfolds the origins of much of what we think of as truly American! Much came from the Dutch rather than the Puritans and Pilgrims! For anyone interested in this era or who has, like me, ancestors who lived in Dutch New York, this is really insightful and interesting. Might be worthwhile also for those who live on Manhattan Island or in Breukelen or near the Bouwerie or Greenwyck Village or Nieuw Haarlem.

I think I read this book in 3 days...I could not put it down. The story line was incredibly original, and definitely very quirky. I liked all the characters and felt that the plot was expertly woven together. I won't say anything else, other than YES, READ THIS BOOK!
