Very revealing of the heartache and trauma of this most difficult time in history. One of the greatest parts of the book was coming to the end of the second volume and seeing an actual photograph of the author's father. All the characters are animals throughout the book, so seeing that human face was almost breathtaking.

Though there were some small dry parts in it, it is still one of the most creative books I've read. It really makes you appreciate those little things in life that seem so insignificant at first glance but are really the things that make life wonderful.

I love these books... PR if you read your reviews firstly I'd like to say a huge thank you and secondly please don't make me wait so long for the next one! I find it quite difficult to say what is so wonderful about Kvothe's story and so borrowing from the book itself I'll simply say it's beautiful. Why? Because it is.... I quite often like to break books (or films etc etc) down and analyse them, to see which parts I like, those I don't and even rather presumptuously (as I'm not a writer) how they could be improved. To do that would almost be a disservice to a work of art and so I'll just stand awe-struck and impatient for the next.
