there's a bit much about warriors pissing & shitting themselves during the fearful battles but other than that, this book was pretty good for a historical fiction.

The first half of this installment was very strong, I felt. However, it really started to drag after that, falling back into a pattern I didn't like in the last book: PoV chapters from "bit players." Great cliffhangers by the time the book ended, but those just make me angry since I have a feeling it will be ANOTHER 5 years before we see another book from GRRM. Was it worth waiting for? I just don't know. I suspect my opinion of the series will change when (IF!) it's ever finished. Hey George... Try not to be Jordan, ok?
