Was stuck at home feeling ill so I picked this for comfort reading. Marginally better than Bridges of Madison County but not by much. Insousciant rebel academic with predilection for riding motorcycle falls for wife of departmental colleague. Waller of course makes it out to be completely alright. Old cliche of once in a lifetime love and overwhelming passion guarenteed to appeal to the thousands of disaffected housewives leading their humdrum lives.

Austen is classic. This lesser known novel of hers was featured in the more recent movie "The Lake House," which made me curious. I read it in one sitting because I couldn't bear to put it down. If you enjoy Austen, read this book.
