I really wish I could give 2 1/2 stars to this one because I think its a little better than ok but to say that I liked it would be a little too far of a stretch. This book has some good ideas and some horrible ideas. I am all for saving the world, but to completely disregard honesty and legal channels is a little too much for me. Don't get me wrong, I am all for rebelling outrageous laws, but kidnapping happens to fall well within the "acceptable and necessary law umbrella" in my book. What really gets to me is the ending...the book doesn't really end, nothing is concluded and what is doesn't seem realistic. All in all an unique read, but not really worth the time spent.

Really good, especially for a Booker winner which in the last five years have put up some really weak stuff. Adiga vision of India is like a cross between Charles Dickens and Cormic McCarthy. Harsh, cynical, and fluid prose. Strongly recommended.
