Doesn't address radicals or the thousands of other kanji and compound words you will need to be able to read, but its a great start. Highly recommended to beginner through intermediate.

The best in the series although the end fell a little flat despite the cliffhanger of sorts. Still, didn't want it to end and can't wait the next. Edited to add: I was looking up to see when the next book would be out but unfortunately, the author passed away at the beginning of the year :(. So I guess I'll never know what happens next ...
